To start the climb to the White Mountains, take Route 168 heading east from Big Pine.
Keep driving up Route 168.
Midway up the mountain, take a left to get on White Mountain Road.
A few more miles in, the paved portion of the road ends, replaced by a bumpy dirt path
for the last five miles of climb to the summit. A four wheel drive car with high clearance
is recommended. Take it slow to avoid tire punctures.
